Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar recently discussed what’s ahead for the nation in the fight against the coronavirus.

On Sunday, he confirmed cases are increasing because the weather is getting colder and there is less social distancing. He also noted the massive amount of COVID-19 testing lends itself to the jump in positive results.

Azar explained that Americans are getting tired, with lockdowns and mitigation efforts causing fatigue.

“We see these cases spreading wide because we’ve been in this for many months and people are tired,” said the secretary. “You get mitigation fatigue, people get tired.”

However, he went on to urge the public to push ahead and keep following guidelines.

“The steps to mitigate right now are simple,” he added. “Please wash your hands, watch your distance and wear your face coverings when you can’t watch your distance.”

Azar also touted the administration’s program with CVS and Walgreens, which he said will help get a viable vaccine to the nation’s most vulnerable.
